Fall Food You Need To Try As An International Student In The United States
Happy 1st of October! Now that we are really entering the Fall season, it is time to discover the best fall foods that you need to try while you are studying or living in the US. Fall is one of the best seasons in the US, and if it is your first semester, you will see that it comes with a lot of traditions, including football, but also some season-specific food like PSL (Pumpkin Spice Latte)
Pumpkin
For some reason, Americans LOVE pumpkin to the point that in the Fall, so many seasonal products are made with some type of pumpkin or squash. You can see everything from coffee to spices to protein powder and snacks!
Pumpkin Spice
This spice mix is a perfect example of the craziest thing that is everything pumpkin. Starbucks was one to invent the Pumpkin Spice Latte, and every year, people wait for the day that the company has the drink back on its menu.
Maple Syrup/ Maple Butter
While maple syrup is used all year long, it is particularly more important during the fall as more seasonal products integrate it into their recipes. You can find maple syrup coffee, muffins, and cake mixes, or even cotton candy!
Tailgate food
In my mind, fall = football, so when the football season starts, I know the food is about to be amazing! This is especially true in the southeast of the US, where football is as sacred as church, and tailgates are almost a sport of their own. You can find some dips like a buffalo chicken dip, some sliders, barbecue, and grilled meats. Tailgates are very community-oriented, so it is always fun to get reunited around some good food.
Cinnamon and Cinnamon Rolls
Just like Pumpkin, everything cinnamon is a big part of the American fall food scene. I hope you do like cinnamon because you will probably see it everywhere. From coffee to pastries, everything can be cinnamon-ed.
There are so many other types of fall flavors, but these are some of the main ones. If you can, you should try them all for the experience. After all, you only have a limited amount of falls in the US.
